Opioid Workshop - 3 Hour CME Course

The Safe Prescribing of Controlled Substances Workshop is an in depth 3 hour review of America's worsening drug epidemic.  In PART 1 we will review the devastating impact of the "Street Drug" epidemic.  We will examine morbidity and mortality of illicit and controlled prescription drugs.  Specially, it focuses on Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Heroin and Illegal Fentanyl. 

PART 2 is a broad overview of Controlled Substances (medications) of Sched 4, 3 and 2, and the CDC 12 Recommendations for Safe Prescribing. 

Finally, in PART 3 we will explore drug seeking behavior/conflict management, interpreting UDSs, pain management examination techniques and substance abuse intervention.  It utilizes group case reviews and "mock" patient cases to reinforce the examination techniques and principles of safe prescribing.
